Preety 22nd Jun, 2019

Hello Susmit Som,

With a score of 119(out of 180) in IISER Aptitude test(IAT), you do have good chances of getting a seat in IISER Kolkata. If not the first round, you can get a seat in IISER Kolakata in further rouds of allotment.

I scored 73 in IISER Aptitude Test 2019. Can I qualify (GEN CAT) for any IISER? What will be the cutoff for Aptitude Test in IISER?

Aaa Student Expert 7th Jun, 2019

Hello Siddharth,

IISER results are declared within 2 days of writing the exam. But no official marks and merit list has been declared till the last year. They only provide you whether you are selected or not selected.

The key for getting admission to the IISER will be solving maximum questions in the IISER Aptitude Test.

You can get cutoffs online but they are mere guesses. So if you think you have performed well in the exam you can just wait for the results to come out as depending on wrong expectations can be sorrowful if you don't get what you expect.

All the Best!

I want to do research in drugs and medicines. Should I pursue BS from IISC, IISERs etc. or B.pharma from ICT?

Jesin J 18th May, 2019

Hello Shashwat. If you are research oriented, then there is no better place than IISC. Yes, B.pharma from ICT is great, if you are looking for a job post your course completion. But, for doing research in drugs and medicines, I would suggest you to go for BS from IISC, since the research facilities and faculties are way better than any place in India.

Hope this helps.

All the best.

1.My son has a rank of 809 in KVPY SA 2018. Can he get admission in IISER Pune or IISER Kolkata based on previous years trends?

Jasleen Kaur Taneja 17th May, 2019

Although it cannot be said with confidence, but with a rank of 809 in SA stream, it's a bit difficult to get admission into the choice of your subject (seeing past trends).

Nithesh 21st Mar, 2019

Hello Aspirant,

It would be difficult to tell you the exactly about the admission chances as cutoff varies every year depending on the various factors such as difficulty level of the exam, Number of candidates appeared for the exam, Performance of the candidates etc.

However you can check the previous year cutoff to take an Idea about the admission possibilities.

Whether iisc Is better or iiser kolkata is better or it is based on mode of studying in that college

Nafisa Turabi 15th Dec, 2018

IISC is undisputed with better rankings at World Class level. Although of course there might be some courses which may be better at Kolkata but kostlm it depends on the student himself since everybody has a personal preference. You can take admission in any of them and do great :)

What is the Future of doing a BS-MS course through IISER Kolkata? What are the % of getting job after BS-MS & then PhD?

K R MANIKANDAN 26th Jul, 2018

Hello Neeraj,

If you are seriously interested in pursuing a career in any Science Stream then you can go for BS-MS.

The career will be mostly in R&D. If you can do it in IISER then you will have best opportunities for doing PhD and other researches.

Rather than getting job, it is more like exploring and finding a job for yourself.

All the best!
