How many marks I need to join in IIST through GATE exam?

Ketaki Dhotre Student Expert 10th Jun, 2019

Dear Abish,

May I know the course you are interested in and also if belong to any category.

They cutoffs for various PG courses in IIST through GATE exam ranges from 425-580 for general category students whereas it ranges from 382-477 for OBC students. If you have scored anywhere in between you can easily get into IIST.

Also for admission in PG courses you  are required to qualify a written test/interview at IIST, Thiruvananthapuram. After the admission rounds, a list of shortlisted students will be published through the website.

Hope this helps. All the best!

I got 85% in CBSE and 79 percentile in jee mains can I got admission in IIST,Thuruvanthapuram or I have to crack any other competitive exam?

kartik_1559822604 Student Expert 7th Jun, 2019

Hello Rakesh,

Indian Institute of space science and technology (IIST) Thiruvananthapuram is a renowned college for providing course in space research and related fields. It works in collaboration with ISRO And this gives a chance to the students to get absorbed in ISRO. Admission registration for 2019 had already been started and the registration will close on 17 june19.

IIST takes it admission for BTech on the basis of JEE advanced ranks and the merit list is prepared on the same . For participating in admission process one need to score 75% marks in 12th standard or its equivalent exams for general category as for sc/St,obc,pwd it is 65%.

Minimum marks to be achieved in JEE advanced category wise is as follows:

General- At least 20% marks in aggregate and at least 5% marks in each of the three subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics).

OBC- Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) Candidates: At least 18% marks in aggregate and at least 4.5% marks in each of the three subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics).

SC/ST &Pwd- At least 10% marks in aggregate and at least 2.5% marks in each of the three subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics).

For registration students has to go on IIST official website only.

So I think you will not be able to make it to IIST with JEE main,as you also need to appear for JEE advanced. And fullfill the criteria. IIST does not hold any separate exams for its admission.

Hope this helps. Further if any queries feel free to ask.

All the best!!!

Regards.

Congratulations on clearing JEE Mains ,  Hope you are doing well.
The cutoff for JEE Advanced can vary each year,  this year,  because of a change in paper pattern,  there could be a slight increase in the cutoff.
The expected cutoff of OBC is about 60 marks. With the sectional cutoff from 12 to 15 marks.
Hope I am clear.
