If you go through the eligibility criteria then in the eligibility criteria they made it clear that a candidate belonging to general OBC category must have 75% mark in 12th which include subjects physics chemistry mathematics one language and one any other subject therefore there is no such rule on top 20 percentile so to able to get admission into IISC you must score 75% in class 12th.

IIST Admission is the graduate entrance examination which is conducted by Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology. Candidates who are willing to get their graduation degree in B.Tech/M. Tech courses are supposed to give IIST Admission entrance examination. IST Admission is for the undergraduate course.

You must get how much ever marks you can to score your best.
Last year the cut off for JEE Mains was 74 on 360. But for getting admission in NITs, IIITs or GFTIs across India one must achieve above 180.
For getting admission in IITs across India one must clear JEE Mains along with securing high rank in JEE Advance to get branch of your choice.

Most of the eligibility criteria is that the candidate should have completed B.E/B.Tech or a M.Sc/MS for specialisation in relavent courses. yes, you need to clear/get qualified through jee advance to earn admission in IIST.before jee advanced,you need to get qualify through jee mains also.
