Hello Aspirant,IIst accepts jee mains marks for getting admission .But you need to qualify jee advanced for applying.To apply you have to give both your jee mains as well as jee advanced.Then they will prepare a rank list according to which you will be getting a chance to take part in counselling process.

Students who are offered a job in ISRO/DOS are mandated to serve as Scientist/Engineer – ‘SC’ in any ISRO/DOS centres for a minimum period of 3 years. The basic emoluments at present will be approximately Rs. 56,100/- p.m. In addition, House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Transport Allowance at the prescribed rates in force at the place of posting are applicable.
For the students who are not absorbed in ISRO/DoS establishments, the placement cell of IIST shall put its best efforts to get placement opportunities, in other reputed private/government organisations through campus interviews.

Dear Sundar, if you fall under General Category, you should score a minimum aggregate of 75% in your Class 12 and born after October 1st, 1993. If you fall under SC/ST/PWD, then 65% is the required aggregate and born after October 1st, 1998. Admissions into IIST are based on JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. Registrations for IIST B.Tech will open from May 22nd online and will close by June 5th. Based on your JEE Advanced marks, the ranking list will be allotted during the 3rd week of June. And you can fill in your choices of colleges between 3rd week to 4th week of June. The seats will be allocated during 4th week of June to 4th week of July. it is a 48 acre surreal campus located in LPSC ,valayimala area of thiruvananthapuram district.
sports:
There is a large ground which is about 2km from the college ,also in campus there are two badminton courts and basket ball courts in the D2 building.
IIST cricket league is organised every odd semester ,and T20 matches also held if you are really interested in cricket.
campus life:
The college is excellent with good infrastructure and well and pretty good environmental look.
if a student is getting his cgpa above 7.5, student is directly placed in IISRO, which is having good reputation.
finally, campus provides every oppurtunity to what a student can use and at the same time college is strictly focussed on studies. the campus is providing good resources and it depends on usage of a student.

Considering your query is about IIST application forms. Online Application forms for admission to B.Tech programmes in IIST will release on May 22, 2019.
Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology offers admission to the B.Tech programmes on the basis of JEE Advanced scores only. No separate entrance exam is conducted for admission.
IIST Admission Dates 2019 are as follows-
Online Application Form will release on May 22, 2019.
Final Date for filling the application form is June 5, 2019.
Rank List will be declared in the third week of June 2019.
IIST B.Tech Seat Allotment will be done from the fourth week of June to tje Fourth week of July 2019.
IIST B.Tech 2019 Eligibility Criteria
As per the Eligibility Criteria, candidate must be citizen of India.
-General and OBC category candidate must be born on or after October 1, 1994 to be eligible to appear for admissions.
-Candidates belonging to the reserved category (SC,ST,PH ) must be born on or after October 1, 1989.
-Candidate should have passed any of the 10+2 exams-
i) Candidate should have completed Intermediate or two year pre-university exam conducted by a recognised board or university.
ii) candidates who have Senior School Secondary examination conducted by NIOS are also eligible to apply. They should have completed the examination with a minimum of fove subjects.
Iii) Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy
iv) Candidate should have completed final examination of 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Board/University.
v) candidates who have completed the exam through CBSE, ISCE board, etc. recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
vi) Candidates who have completed High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva
vii) Candidates completing Vocational Higher Secondary Examinations are also eligible to apply.
General category candidates are required to have scored at least 75 % aggregate marks. (65% aggregate marks for SC/ST candidates)
Average marks of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, any language and any one subject are considered to calculate the aggregate percentage.
Candidates must have cleared JEE Advanced exam to be eligible to apply for admission.

Opening and closing percentage in selection for IIST means ,starting and ending cutoff marks and rank to get admission in to IIST .
Since cutoff trends varies from year to year ,so the opening and closing rank also varies from year to year .

IIST admissions are based on JEE mains results i.e ranks .So there is no new exam for IIST and the average cutoff will be 7000 for general category in mains.Physics ,chemistry and maths are enough
