what if i would get obc rank below 100 can eligible for cs in iit Bombay

Sharon Rose Student Expert 19th Aug, 2021

Hello,

Last year a candidate with rank 44 belonging to OBC-NCL category secured admission to Computer Science and Engineering in Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in round 6. Considering the previous year cut off you need to secure a rank (category rank) around 40 because cut off may increase or decrease this year depending on the total number of candidates appeared, difficulty level of examination and total number of seats available etc.

iit bombay college engineering physics or metallurgical and metirial science. wcich course is better the placements

Nitya 17th Aug, 2021
Hey,
Both the streams have decent placement records. So no need to worry about that. Matter of concern here is do not go for any branch just for better package. As package wholly depends on your performance. And your performance can only be good when you put your 100% efforts for it. And if you choose the wrong stream in which you are not interested then it becomes very difficult to perform well.
So choose the one you like.

For Jee Advanced 2020 the Minimum Percentage of Marks in Each Subject for SC Category was 2.50% and Minimum Percentage Aggregate Marks was 8.75%.For knowing the detailed cutoffs and cutoff trends you can visit this link- https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-advanced-cutoff

How oc student can get into IIT Madras or IIT Bombay

Anurag Khanna 13th Aug, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

As you have not mentioned the course in which you are seeking admission in IIT Madras or IIT Bombay so it is little bit difficult to guide you an accurate information but if we go through your profile then it shows that you are an engineering aspirant so you might be interest in admission to B.Tech course. If I am wrong then please correct me in the comment section below I would be helping you further with relevant information.

Now for admission to B.Tech courses in any of the IITs is taken solely on the basis of rank secured in JEE-Advance. JEE-Advance is an engineering entrance examination conducted by any of the IITs in rotation every year for admission to B.Tech courses offered in IITs. To be eligible for JEE-Advance one needs to sit for JEE-Main which is conducted four times in an year by NTA and should qualify in JEE-Main with qualifying cut-off percentile which are expected for 2021 like :-

  • Common Rank List (CRL) - 90- 95 Percentile
  • GEN-EWS - 70- 75 Percentile
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) - 70- 75 Percentile
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) - 50- 55 Percentile
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 40- 45 Percentile
  • PwD - 1-2 Percentile

Note that in above table it is not the actual cut-off for JEE-Main 2021 but expected on the basis of previous year's analysis. You can check out previous year's cut-off trends from the link given below :-

IIT Bombay admission eligibility criteria

Purbayan Chatterjee 11th Aug, 2021

IIT Bombay is one of the best colleges in India and getting admission in it is definitely difficult.

However, the general admission criteria for Btech remains the same as most colleges i.e. Passed Class 12 with at least 75% aggregate from recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.

The actual segregation occurs with respect to the JEE Advanced exam. Only the top few make to IIT Bombay.

So, if you're someone planning to take admission into IIT B, prepare extensively for JEE Advanced.

Do check out this article for more information about the same.

Hope this helps.

how many marks needed and percentile needed for an sc candidate to qualify jee advanced and to get iiT Bombay CSE branch? in 2021

Anurag Khanna 9th Aug, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

Expected qualifying cut-offs for this year are as follows :-

  • Common Rank List (CRL) - 90- 95 Percentile
  • GEN-EWS - 70- 75 Percentile
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) - 70- 75 Percentile
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) - 50- 55 Percentile
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 40- 45 Percentile
  • PwD - 1-2 Percentile

So as per the expected cut-offs, being a SC candidate you should try to secure at least 50+ percentile in JEE-Main to get qualified for JEE-Advance 2021

Note that in above table it is not the actual cut-off for JEE-Main 2021 but expected on the basis of previous year's analysis. You can check out previous year's cut-off trends from the link given below :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-cutoff

Now if we go through the latest cut-off of 2020 then it shows that the closing rank for SC category was 29 for CSE branch in IIT Bombay . It is little bit difficult to tell you about exact marks to score because for JEE-Advance no maximum marks are fixed but yes with regards to JEE-Advance 2021 if you secure your AIR in JEE-Advance under top 20 in SC category then there would be good chances for you to get CSE branch in IIT Bombay .

You can check out the latest cut-offs from the link given below :-

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

Note that the above prediction is made on the basis of latest cut-offs available on official website of JOSAA and the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors such as the number of candidates appearing in an examination, the number of candidates qualifying an examination, difficulty level of the paper, and so on.

To have a list of all those colleges which you can get based upon your JEE-Main score, category, and state you can use JEE-Main College Predictor :-
