Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar
Congarts for you achievement,as a future IITian graduate. So in the couselling process you have to report an IIT when you are alloted a seat and you have done this and you chose float. To make it freeze you have to report to the same reporting centre(IIT Gandhinagar) .You can make it freeze only in IIT Gandhinagar.
IIT Ropar is a good college. But, it hasn’t shifted yet to the permanent campus. So, it might lag a lot in the campus fun that you could enjoy in older IITs. Xollege have some people for GSoC here and some very good professors and some bad professors. Its like any other IIT.
As far coding culture is concerned, it is very developed. IIT Ropar do not enjoy the benefit of the locations that other newer IITs like Hyderabad and Indore enjoy. But, college is also not too far from Chandigarh. So, you can obviously have fun their.
The placements of CSE for all the IITs stands the best and so it does here. Going by the statistics, IIT Hyderabad, Indore and Ropar have the best placements among all newer IITs and better than some older IITs like BHU, Guwahati. Though, placements completely depend on individual efforts. I consider IIT Ropar CSE to be equally good as CSE in older IITs and some highly performing newer IITs like Hyderabad and Indore.
IIT Gandhnagar
Doubts arising with respect to the following aspects:
CS department at IIT Gandhinagar started in more years to start a B Tech in CSE just goes onto show the kind of quality control measures IIT GN employs and the kind of standards it sets when it comes to providing world class education. Since the PhD program in CS has been running since a long time now, plenty of research is happening. Minors in CS has always been popular among UG students at IIT Gandhinagar.
The placements in coding profiles have been excellent. It boils down to the individual and the kind of profile he builds during his four years at IIT Gandhinagar.
IIT GN will provide ample opportunities and will encourage the interests of its students greatly. Making the best use of the resources and opportunities available is up to the individual.
Hello there. Congratulations on getting an IIT. Well for the mock round they are the initial phase which tells which college you might get in the first spot round. But since in JOSSA their will be 7 round of counseling, their are chances that you might get IIT Khadakpur in the later round of counseling
hello candidate
mock rounds are based on the choices filled by all the aspirants,so some people will change their priority order after mock but it is 99 % that you will get the very same choice which you got in mock round 2.
all that matters is what you get after round 7 which is your final seat .
all the best
Hello dear
Don't worry you will get IIT for sure as your rank is pretty good. But just check once and let us know what you have filled below IIT Gandhinagar. If it is that you have filled no option of IIT below the option that you are getting, then there is a chance of loosing IITs. But if it is not so, you will get the same college as the mock round because your rank is good to get that college.I hope this helps. Feel free to ask any other queries, we are here to help you.
Hello there. The seat shown in mock round are almost accurate. Their might be some changes due to same moment changes made by some candidates. So if you are getting seat in mock round then it's around 99% accurate for what is going to be in spot round.
Hi Biky,
I can provide you 2016, 2017 and 2018 closing ranks of IIT Kharagpur for SC category candidates, so you can get a clear idea.
In 2016, after the last round-
Closing Rank- 1,845
In 2017, after the last round-
Closing Rank- 1,852
In 2018, after the last round-
Closing Rank- 1,886
Therefore, you need an SC rank below 1,900 to be able to get the lowest branch of IIT Kharagpur.
I would suggest you go for IIT Gandhinagar.
Hope this helps you.
All the best!!!
2268 is pretty a good score to get an IIT for SC category. And since you have got one in the mock round it is more likely for you to attain it. You need to set your priority list right for you to get better results. Please refer the following link for more information. All the best!!!

Hello Aaditya,
I'll suggest you to choose engineering branch over college. As CSE has more scope nowadays, so I'll suggest you to join CSE in IIT Gandhinagar. As after 10 years the thing which matters the most is your branch and skill , and not the college.
You can also opt for Electrical in IIT Hyderabad but in upcoming future it doesn't have much scope.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!!
