Admission to Engineering course in IITs is on the basis of JEE Advanced exam. And, to appear for JEE Advanced exam you will have to qualify the JEE Main exam. You can register for the JEE Main 2019 January exam till September 30.Go through the link below

You must have completed four years in any degree. Diploma holders are not eligible for the GATE 2019.
Candidates who have switched to B.E/B.Tech after completing 3 years in Diploma will be eligible to appear for the GATE 2019 examination.

Students in 12th as Appearing or who have lready appeared can only be allowed to attempt for Jee Main and Jee Advanced exams. Students must have optes for PCM subjects in 12th.
