You should have achieved minimum of 75% marks in your 12th class to take admission in IIT or NIT colleges. There will be no meaning of your good rank in JEE Exam if you obtained less than 75% marks in the 12th Examination.

In order to take admission you can appear in JEE (Main+ Advanced) exam to take admission in 1st year of enginering in IITs.
NITs don't provide admission to diploma students.
