Vivek Kumar 8th Oct, 2020

Hi, sorry to say but it would have been good if the rank you have got would have been under general category rank. But your rank is EWS category rank i.e. 4856 so let me tell you that you will not be able to get into any IIT . It will be better to go for another college as you still can get any other state government or top most private colleges with this rank. So for your help I'm mentioning the JEE Mains and JEE Advance college pridictor by Careers360 of which you can take help to predict the best college according to yourself.

The seats reserved for the respective category are vacant and

Major Important Points Regarding Preparatory Courses

IITs (not all) runs preparatory courses of one year duration for SC, ST and PwD candidates intended to prepare them to pursue the academic program (for session 2020–21) to which they have been allocated.

At the end of this course, candidates are declared as pass or fail.

On successful completion of the course i.e. after getting a pass grade in preparatory course, the candidates will be offered direct admission in July 2021 (Academic Year 2021–22) to the already allotted undergraduate course which was allotted to them during the time of JOSAA counseling 2020.

Filling-in of choices for preparatory courses is through the same online portal.

Candidates admitted to the preparatory course 2020–21 are also eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2021 subject to fulfilling other eligibility criteria.

NIT IS BEST OR PREPARATORY COURSE AT IIT IS BEST I GOT PREPARATORY RANK 1090 IN ST CATEGORY PLEASE SUGGEST ME

Rama Devi 9th Oct, 2020

Hello,

If you are having chances of getting your desired course in NIT, then go for it.  I hope that you are aware about the test that to be taken after the preparatory course, if you are confident that you can pass the test then you go for IIT, but incase if you don't qualify the test then you will be kicked out. Or  like if you are IIT aspirant and want IIT tag to you and also if you are confident that you will pass the exam then go for IIT. But my best advice is to choose NIT. However, it is your decision, final choice will be in your hands.

What is the prefernce fir mathematics and computing in IITS??

Vipul Chaudhary 11th Oct, 2020

Hi there!

Keep in mind that I’m answering this from IITKGP Mathematics and Computing (MnC) department’s perspective. it's getting to vary w.r.t other IITs but not an excessive amount of .

In terms of placement, speaking on general terms, CS placements any day will have an whip hand over Mathematics and Computing. Well, there are always exceptions.

“Let the CS guys get placed within the first three days of placement then , we’ll get our chance needless to say .”—A typical MnC guy.

Courses. most the CS courses are taught in MnC department but there’s a difference. Mnc courses are more inclined towards Mathematics and not much coding. it's you who will got to code. The professors in MnC department won’t pay much heed.

CS department will provide you with many program to code. Coding will become your cup of coffee.

Interests. You say you're interested by both subjects. Mathematics is all different after coming to IIT. rather than solving skills you'll need more of mugging up. I even have seen many of my friends lose their interest in Mathematics after joining. I’m not trying to intimidate you but Mathematics here is indeed different from that of your school days.

If you're interested by both subjects, more in CS, choose the CS department. you will always take additional courses in MnC department to satiate your desire for Maths.

Thanks.

what is the prefernce for electrical engeenering in IITS?

gourik13012001 7th Oct, 2020

Hi,

Electrical engineering is a very good branch and is most preferred right after computer science (in some colleges, its position comes third, after computer science and electronics). Computer science and electrical are the most preferred branches in IIT Bombay, the best IIT in India.

The priority depends upon each IIT, its facility and background. Find which one is the best for you and choose wisely.

Hope this was helpful

How to get IIT seat without qualified jee advanced

rohan.20022004 7th Oct, 2020

Dear Aspirant, there are only two ways to get a seat at IIT. The first one is to qualify JEE Mains followed by JEE Advanced with required cutoffs and the only other way is to complete BE/B.Tech studies from a good affiliated University and then appear for GATE examination. So the only difference is that if you qualify through JEE Advance you can pursue B.Tech at IIT and if you choose the second method you can pursue your M.Tech at IIT. These are the only two ways you can pursue particular course at IIT

what is the prefernce oreder for CSE in IITs???

ishu kaushik 7th Oct, 2020

The general preference order followed by students is

IIT :-

IIT B >IITD>IIT KGP=IITM=IITK

If you are getting decent department Bombay and Delhi, just chose it .

Choosing IIT Madras completely depends upon you being from South India or not . If you are from South India , I would advice you to go to North IITs or IIT at Kharagpur,Kanpur,BHU. There is not a very big reason for this , reason is just language barriers and your familiarity with environment .

All top 5 IITs are almost same . Just choose according to your interest and proximity to home .

Then comes the second generation IITs

Roorkee > Guwahati > BHU > IIT ISM

Then new IITs.

New IIT ranking continuously change . They will be constant after their 30 years of existence .

Kanpur used to be on top earlier but now Bombay .

Ranking is not constant . They change every year. Thus chose according to your interests and just chill.
