Dear Aspirant,
No IIT do not have any weightage for the +2 marks, however, you have to have a minimum 75% marks in CBSE board or be in the top 20 percentile of your respective board to be eligible for the admission in the IITs and NITs.
Generally, there is no weightage for the+2 marks in engineering colleges, but they mostly have some minimum eligibility criteria ranging from 60-75% marks in +2.
Hope this helps. Thank you.

See from the perspective of research in INDIA private institutions didn't produce valued research. So IIT GOA may be a new IIT and can be in a struggling phase but always remember IIT's are very choosy about professors and they take teachers those who have proper research background along with post doctoral experience. So IIT's can be new but the professor there have the experience from the International Universities and may be after a great work in the respective field they have secured a professorship at IIT.
So according to me or the basic scenario of research in private colleges , it always better for you to join IIT rather than VIT. May be the college have better infrastructure and reputation but it can't match the frequency of research with IIT's.
Although I would recommend you to go through the internet and conduct a research about both the institutions. If you agree with my points then verify it. If you don't agree then you do a research by yourself about the institutions which will give you a more prominent scenario of the research in natural sciences.
I hope my answer helps you. Wish you all the very best for your future endeavors!
Hello priyanshi
I don't get it how can a science bio stream student will take admissions if he /she wants to chose msc from chemistry (I came to know this today as well) . Iit jam will give you a score which you can use to take admissions in various IITs and NITs so if any NIT decides not to restrict with no mathematic in +2 than you can take admissions in that NIT so you should attempt IIT JAM exam .

Metallurgical Engineering in general is a very good choice , but as far as IIT Patna is concerned it is a very new Insititute and secondly its Metallurgical Department is only a year old and lacks in experienced faculty, curriculum and research facilities as well as employer outlook.
As far as NIT Kurukshetra is concerned it is one of the best old technical institutes in North India for Mechanical Engineering next to IIT Delhi , IIT Roorkee and PEC Chandigarh. The institute has good infrastructure, faculty and research facilities. Located near Industrial hubs at Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh and Noida further provides impetus to training and placement oppprtunities. Most of the Top Companies like Tata Motors, Honda, GE, Trident, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, JSW, Vedanta recruit from the campus. Besides this, it provides in depth education at almost half the fee charged by BITS Hyderabad, so also provides good Return on Investment.

Hey aspirant,
Maybe joining IIT Kharagpur is a little better than IIT BHU, but IIT BHU itself is a well renowned, highly prestigious institute that many students aspire of. Electronics department in IIT BHU is one of the best.
IIT BHU 's NIRF (20) ranking is 11. It is ranked 9 by Outlook and 10 by The Week '20.
Placements of IIT BHU are very good. Almost every student gets placed in core / non- core branches. Highest package of 2019 was 1.5 crores per annum. Average packages are around 23 LPA.
