With JEE main rank you cannot get into IITs. As per last years cutoff, there are less chances of getting a seat in NITs, but you can go for home state and get into streams like Prodution engineering, Metallurgical engineering.
You should try for other state counselings as well. You can use the college predictor tool to know about the collegee predictions in JoSAA counseling and other state counseling based on your rank. https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-college-predictor?icn=QnA&ici=qna_answer

I don’t think that it is right to compare IIT with IIM or vice versa. As both are diversed and good in their respective fields.Well, it depends on what you want to pursue. IITs specialises in Engineering and Research whereas IIMs specialises in Management studies. Both are excellent in their self-domain. It totally depends on your choice for which you want to opt.Placements at IITs and IIMs are good
Hello ashisheeeeee , From some research on internet I found that IIT Delhi is one of best option for Mechanical engineering because it has good placement with approx. 15-20 lakh per annum and it is enough as a fresher. And if we talk about scope of mechanical engineering then it is also a wide range of fields in which Mechanical engineers work and the job opportunities are also increased by 9-10% in upcoming 5 years.
Hope it will be helpful for you :)
