So, you have given 2 exams in different years, means you have dropped. So according to the exam, the minimum rank you got by the two exams or by which you are getting admission in NIT or IIT, you should write that roll number on the counselling application

You can see the previous years cut off i.e., opening and closing rank in the JOSAA website for ST category in Aerospace and there you will not only find about the IIT but also IIST, IIEST cut off.
You can give GATE in any branch and in Mechatronics it will be the combination of EE, ECE and ME. But I personally sugget you that you can opt ME in GATE among them because there are no problem to take admission in M.Tech but PSUs companies are taking Mechatronics
