My St rank is 668 is there any chances of getting cs in iit guwahati.

Anurag Khanna 11th Oct, 2020

Hello Aspirant,

According to the rank and category mentioned by you in the question you have good chances of getting IIT Guwahati but not with CSE Branch according to previous year's cut-off. As we go through previous year's cut-off then it shows that last year the closing rank for CSE branch in IIT Guwahati was 117 for ST category.

You can check out previous year's cut-offs for IIT Guwahati from the link given below :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-advanced-cutoff-for-iit-guwahati

Note that the above prediction is made on the basis of previous year's cut-off and the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors such as the number of candidates appearing in an examination, the number of candidates qualifying an examination, difficulty level of the paper, and so on.

To have a list of all those colleges which you can get based upon your marks, category, and state you can use JEE-Advance College Predictor:-

Is Mathematics and Computing a good alternative for CSE in IIT Guwahati?

Wridheeman Bhattacharya 10th Oct, 2020

Hello,

According to what I know and informations I have gathered, Mathematics and Computing in IIT Guwahati is a good choice especially for people who are very enthusiastic about computer science. It's not a dull branch. Many of their courses are same as that of CS Dept. Unlike CSE it is extremely maths intensive and also has a Computer Science depth in its syllabus. The maths in the beginning of the course adds to the breadth of your mathematical knowledge while later the maths is confined to statistics and finance. The course has an overall low syllabus flexibility but becomes flexible enough in the last two semisters.
The job opportunities are also decent for the branch. Most of the companies that open for CS are open for M&C too.

If you hate finance it's hell for you: Owing to the inflexibility of the current syllabus dropping finance courses out is impossible and the courses are quite a struggle for the disinterested.

Hope this helps you.

Good luck!

MY RANK IN GENERAL CATEGORY FOR UCEED EXAM IS 658.CAN I GET ADMISSION IN IIT GUWAHATI OR IIT HYDERABAD ?

S. Saha Student Expert 4th Jul, 2020

There are around 179 seats including all four IITs i.e. IIT Bombay, Hyderabad, Jabalpur, Guwahati, among which approx 74 seats are for general category candidates. Now, you have 658 rank and you belong to general category. So it will be difficult to get any of the IITs with this rank. But you can try for other colleges like DTU, UPES etc. https://design.careers360.com/articles/top-colleges-accepting-uceed-score
