Dear Keshav,
Environmental Engineering in ISM Dhanbad is a decent choice.
According, to careers 360 it has AAAA+ ratings which means outstanding.
Ratings are based on Faculty, Placements, Cut-offs of national / state level Entrance exams, Accreditation and Reward status and Publication record from Elsevier’s indexing database - Scopus.
In NIRF 2018 Ranking it is in 13th position.
M.Tech branches are usually not on par with B.Tech branches, not only in ISM (IIT) Dhanbad, but in almost any other engineering institute in India in terms of immediate opportunities or placements.
Nonetheless, a masters in Applied Geology at IIT Dhanbad is the best in the country and the placements there are great with top companies like Schlumberger, Shell etc recruiting consistently every year. A Doctoral degree abroad after a Masters degree is a great option if one has the proclivity for teaching and research.
M.Tech in Mining is quite comparable to Applied Geology with similar placement strength, faculty proficiency and facilities for research.
