Hey!
The hostel alloted to the first year students is the Jasper Hostel(for boys). It is situated opposite to the RD. It is divided into four blocks. Almost all the first year students are alloted rooms in Block A and Block D. It has five floors and is the largest hostel currently in the campus.
From the outside, it is quite big but one can guess that it is not maintained “cosmetically”. Every room gives shelter to two students inside the hostel. The passage between blocks A and B has a nescafe vendor, it has two canteens, a mess on each floor, common rooms on each floor which have TVs and TT tables. There are 2 badminton/volleyball courts in each block which are big enough to play cricket/football/basketball.
On the first day, when you enter the room, you may feel that it is small in size. However, as days pass, the size of the room doesn't matter anymore. You will find more than 10 people in a room having their gala time and nobody cares about the space in the room. Infact, there will be enough space for them to play CS or have food which they might’ve ordered from somewhere.
Each room has a LAN port, a granite slab, two cots and a cupboard. And obviously a door and a window.
Best Wishes!
Dear Alia,
Most of the rankings done in India are flawed and paid. They don’t reflect the true picture, which is very unfortunate for new aspirants. Don’t go by the rankings posted everywhere. They will misguide you. Just ask as many passed out engineers as you can. They’ll give you a good idea of engineering scenario in India.
ISM Dhanbad has always been considered among IITs even when it didn’t have the IIT status and was an independent university (ISMU).
Its hard to match the standards of IIT(ISM) Dhanbad when it comes to earth sciences. Mining and Petroleum graduates from ISM Dhanbad are considered and treated as ‘elite’ in their respective industries. Their alumni are holding top positions in huge multinationals.
As ISM boasts of a unique and strong senior junior relationship tradition (which you wont find in any other IIT), its much easier for students of ISM Dhanbad to come into contact with their alumni. No doubt their placement records are very good every year.
ISM Dhanbad was granted the status of an IIT in the year 2000 along with Roorkee Engineering College (now IIT Roorkee) but ISM alumni totally rejected the offer while Roorkee accepted it. You can understand by this gesture, what status ISM Dhanbad has been enjoying since its beginning in 1926. But slowly as new trades started being introduced in ISM, a need for IIT status was felt for the upliftment of branches in ISM other than Earth Sciences. Thus, it got an IIT tag recently.
IIT(ISM) Dhanbad is the best engineering college in India in its own sphere. Just like IIT Roorkee is considered best for civil engineering.
As you are concerned about IIT(ISM)Dhanbad. I will say that go for it ‘blindly’ (when you clear IIT-JEE) if you want a career in earth sciences. Its a descent college for other core branches too, as its firstly an IIT, secondly, it has a pretty good infrastructure (much more upgraded recently) and industry contacts. Also, student life is very good.
All the Best!
Dear Aspirant,
Jadavpur is the best engineering college in top ten list of India but IIT dhanbad also consist in top ranking but as my suggestion IIT dhanbad is the best option instead jadavpur. Another the main thing many cases branch are main priority than colleges, when you will get top branches of jadavpur like CSE, ECE etc and in IIT dhanbad like petroleum, mineral and environmental engineering then you will go jadavpur but in IIT dhanbad you will get like CSE,ECE and top most branchs so this is the best option to select IIT dhanbad and we know that the IIT is the brand.
Hope I have made myself clear.
Hello candidate,
There are various method to learn any language. You can search for various you tube tutorials available online on you tube.
There are many websites on internet that provide videos from basics. You can go for Udemy, coursera or internshala trainings that provide various tutorials.
You must not depend on college professors because sometimes it's tough to complete the whole syllabus at one time.
Hope it helps.
Good luck!
Dear Raj,
If we see the 2019 NIRF Ranking of these colleges. IIT ISM, Dhanbad Stand 15, UPES Dehradun Stands 145 and MIT Pune stands in 154. IIT ISM, Dhanbad is the best option for petroleum in India its highest package of petroleum branch is Rs 32 Lakhs per annum and 87% student get placed every year . Whereas UPES Dehradun highest package Rs 26.71 Lakhs per annum and MIT Pune highest package is Rs 18 Lakhs per annum offered by ONGC in 2017. So, IIT ISM, Dhanbad is best for petroleum If you get a chance then go for it.
Best of Luck
