In round 2 of josaa I am allotted iit (ism)dhanbad petroleum engineering .I have decided to freeze. Is this a right decision?

Priya Student Expert 3rd Jul, 2019
Hello aspirant,
If you have chances of getting a better branch than petroleum engineering, in subsequent rounds of counselling then you can slide or float accordingly, but if you are interested in petroleum engineering then it's a right choice and the college is also reputed and a decent one.
Hope it helps.

Sir i want to know that ISM PATNA WILL best for BCA or NSHM DURGAPUR will best

Ritwik 30th Jun, 2019

I think that International School of Management may have a little bit of better edge in management education as compared to NSHM Durgapur. Although the placements are quite similar yet the former institute provides better facilities in terms of faculty and infrastructure.

How is IIT(ism) dhanbad ECE????

shashwat dixit 27th Jun, 2019

The placement percentage is quite high as in most of the IITs. Around 80% of the students in B.Tech programmes get placed. Placement percentage of the branches like mining engineering and computer science is 90% whereas the civil department lacks a bit regarding placements. The highest salary package offered was 36 LPA and was offered to the students of CSE department.                                                                                                                                                         The infrastructure of the college is quite good and is still developing. There is a 7-storey huge library with a good Wi-Fi connection. The student activity centre facilitates all cultural and most of the indoor sports activities. There are ample sports fields and courts for outdoor activities too. There is a health centre to look after all the health issues of students. Labs and classrooms are good and well-furnished.

How is IIT(ism) dhanbad electrical???

Vikas Student Expert 27th Jun, 2019

First of all ISM is now converted to IIT so the level of college as well as placements have been improved a lot.Now coming to your question on Electrical Engineering,so electrical is a core branch of engineering and you have lots of opportunities being an IITian.Best choice at ISM will be mining as it is one of the oldest and well known college in mining.EE have a good placement record but if you are getting one of the old IITs then please consider them either ISM is not bad and has talented people there. Also you  can show your coding skills after joining EE also so don't worry about that.

Hope this helps.

What should be the order of filling in JoSaa for: ISM CS, ECE IITKGP,MnC (IITG, BHU)?

muskan pardasani 25th Jun, 2019
Hello Mukul
It firstly depends on your field of interest, so that you may go ahead with the preference of branch. If you are neutral with all the branches, then you can go with the older iits. ECE in IIT Kharagpur is great, but if you are interested in the field of mathematics and data, you can opt for mathematics and Computing at IIT guwahati. Besides this,  the newer IITs,  IIT(ISM) dhanbad and IIT(BHU) Varanasi are doing great. Both have a big alumni network, which is necessary factor. If you like coding, you can go with ISM, but amongst these 2, according to me BHU is a better option. Also keep in mind that all the branches are equally good, they all have great placement statistics and various companies recruiting students from these fields. Preferred options will be the older iits.

I hope this helps you. Choose wisely. You could also consider the location factor if you want to.
All the best!!

Nishant Rathore 25th Jun, 2019

Hello Arpan,

If you are concerned whether to pick between IIEST Shibpur or IIT(ISM) DHANBAD, I'd suggest you should have mentioned your alloted department in respective colleges to get a better idea of the situation. However, I'd suggest for similar departments, you should go for IIT(ISM) Dhanbad.
