Being an IIITIAN its easy to get a job from various IT Companies ,but its little bit difficult to get a job for other branches students  like Mechanical ,Electrical etc..but its not mean not possible ,if you really interested in software job then you have to do some

To get into IIT for M.Sc. after B.Sc. Geology you need to give entrance exam known as IIT JAM. You will get admission in IIT on the basis of your IIT JAM score.

Eligibility for IIT JAM :

Get at least 55% in B.Sc. for general/obc student.

According to your query , Chances is there to get but you can try lower rank accepted IITs like Probability cutoff changes every year and the candidates have a rank below 400 which has high chances for IIT but campus like delhi ,Bombay ,madras accept rank below
