Hi,
To get a seat in IMU the candidate should have cleared entrance exam conducted by IMU.
Eligibility -
Candidates shall have cleared class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics with 60% aggregate and 50% marks in English. Provided, candidates appearing for the examination in 2022 will also be eligible. The age of candidates shall be within 17 to 25 years. A relaxation of 5 years will be allowed for the reserve category.

Hello aspirant,
IMU offers, several courses, in which there is no diploma for marine engineering, only btech is offered for marine engineering. There is diploma for nautical science of one year programme for undergraduates. However, in PG there is diploma course in marine engineering. It is for a period of one year. The admissions for 2021 programme were closed on 12 september 2021. The dates for 2022 admissions were not yet released.

Placements are provided by the shipping company that comes to imu to recruit the cadets deck/engine. During the training the stipend is around 400 to 500 $ depending upon the company and after clearing the exams the salary is around 3000$ (average)as an officer (operational level) and it increases when u get promoted.

As per the eligibility criteria to get admission in Indian Maritime University , candidates must have qualified 10+2 or equivalent from the recognized board with physics, chemistry and mathematics as compulsory subject with at least 60% in each of these. age limit -
For general category candidates should be minimum 17 years and maximum 25 years old as on August 1, 2021.
For only the SC/ST category, there is 5 year relaxation in the upper age limit.
MARKS REQUIRED -
Candidates should have scored minimum 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
At least 50% marks have to be secured in English.
Relaxation of marks will be given to SC/ST candidates, however, it will not be applicable for English.
Medical Fitness
For Marine Engineering, the candidates will have to issue a medical certificate from doctors who are approved by the Director General of Shipping.
For B.Tech (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering) and B.Sc (Ship Building & Repair), the candidates will have to issue a physical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner.
