Is there masters in interior designing in CEPT and can i know the fee per year? And also if theres an entrance exam when are we supposed to give it? Before how many months of joining are we supposed to write the exam and what is the syllabus for it

Ayshwarya Mahadevan 14th Dec, 2025

Yes, CEPT University does offer a master’s level programme related to interior design, but it is important to understand how it is structured. CEPT does not have a course titled exactly “M. Des in Interior Design.” Instead, interior design–oriented studies are covered under its Master of Design (Interior Design) or related Master of Design / Master of Architecture specialisations offered through the Faculty of Design and the Faculty of Architecture. These programmes focus on interior architecture, spatial design, furniture design, materials, lighting, and user-centric interior spaces.

For eligibility, candidates are generally required to have a relevant undergraduate degree such as B. Arch, B. Des, BFA (Applied Arts), Interior Design, or a closely related design or architecture background from a recognised university. Final-year students are also usually allowed to apply, provided they complete their degree before the programme begins.

Admission to CEPT’s master’s programmes is entrance-based. Candidates need to appear for the CEPT entrance process, which typically includes an application form, portfolio submission, and a design aptitude test and/or interview. The entrance process usually starts around March to April, with exams and interviews conducted between April and May. This means you should ideally start preparing and applying at least 6–8 months before the academic session begins, as portfolio preparation and design aptitude practice take time.

The syllabus for the entrance test generally focuses on design aptitude rather than rote learning. It may include visual reasoning, spatial ability, basic design principles, creativity, sketching, interpretation of forms and spaces, general awareness of design and architecture, and portfolio-based evaluation. A strong portfolio showcasing your design work, drawings, conceptual projects, and creative thinking plays a very important role in selection.

Regarding fees, the annual tuition fee for master’s programmes at CEPT University usually ranges between Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 4 lakh per year, depending on the programme and academic year. In addition to tuition fees, you should also plan for studio materials, software, and living expenses if you are staying in Ahmedabad.

Overall, CEPT is considered one of the top design and architecture institutes in India, especially for interior and spatial design–related studies. If you have a strong design background and prepare well for the entrance process, it is a very good option to consider.

All the best for your preparation and admission journey.

What is the fee of interior designing

Nikita shahi 10th Aug, 2025

The fee for an Interior Design course can vary widely depending on the level and institution. For certificate or diploma courses (short-term), the cost may range from 20,000 to 1,00,000 total. B.Des or B.Sc in Interior Design programs at private institutions typically charge between 2,00,000 to 6,00,000 per year. Government colleges may offer lower fees especially if you qualify via merit or seat quotas. Also, look into online accredited programs like those from NID or IGNOU for cost-effective and flexible learning. Beyond tuition, factor in costs for materials, studio supplies, and internships, as these can add a few thousand rupees more.
