HI, i have completed my graduation in 2004. can i still give the ielts exam and go for further studies in Australia? please guide.

Rajib Sarkar 16th Mar, 2018

There is no age bar for IELTS. There are some test centres in India where you can give the IELTS exam. Since you are planning to pursue higher studies in Australia, you should go for IELTS academic. If you don't know English pretty well, it would be hard for you to clear IELTS. If that is the case then you may take some coaching classes which prepare for IELTS and TOEFL. Also you should give a lot of practice tests available in the internet so that you can get an idea of the actual exam pattern.

Is it necessary to crack IELTS after cracking SAT exam?

Shivani Bhatt 3rd Jan, 2018

Hi Vaibhav,

SAT scores are used for admission to an undergraduate program abroad. An IELTS score, on the other hand, checks your English language proficiency as the course you would be joining would be taught in English.

So, yes, it is necessary to score well in IELTS after scoring well in SAT.

Please read English Language Proficiency Score for Engineering programmes to know more.

I got mail stating that my results are being withheld for investigation. will they release it soon or do i need to mail them?

Mrunmayi Deshpande 12th Feb, 2018

Hi

The IELTS result can be withheld for the following reasons:

  • Random quality checks
  • An unusual exam result
  • They suspect malpractice

First, just relax and be patient. Usually, it is nothing to worry about.  Most likely, your results were only withheld for a random quality check or an unusual result and will be released to you within a few weeks.

However, if they do suspect malpractice, then you may have to provide a statement and additional information to a review panel. After carefully considering the case, they may release the result unchanged or they might permanently withhold the result. Unfortunately, though, these investigations can take up to 12 weeks from the test date.

I want to go to australia for my post graduation in construction management, what is the minimum marks i need to obtain in IELTS?

Aashiketa 28th Sep, 2021

Greetings, most of the universities regardless of your course require minimum of 6.5 band in average from this examination. It is safe to keep a goal of 7.5-8 band and work for it. If your 10th and 12th English scores are 70% and more you can have an advantage of not giving IELTS exam. It is recommended for every aspirant to consult a counselor before applying for their admissions. All the best!
