The admission to NITs is done through JEE Main on the basis of cutoff as determined by the colleges. If you want to get admission to an NIT, you need around 80-90 percentile and a rabk of minimum 15,000-20,000 to get admission.It also depends on the reservation policy

Yes, JEE Mains is compulsory for taking admission into any NITs/IIITs. Class 12 marks are just considered for eligibility criteria for admission into these institutions, but JEE Mains score is the only examination/process by which candidates can get admission into NITs/IITs.
