The metallurgy branch is not that encouraging in Jadavpur University. The placements there at pretty normal and the average package stays generally around 6L per annum being one of the premier institutes of india.
General non core companies like Capgemini, wipro, airbus comes for placements for these branches.

Although there is no limit on the number of attempts for WBJEE exam, it is never advisable to drop 4 years for any college, not even the top IITs, rest aside JU. You might not face any problem upfront but it will definitely create disastrous effects during placements

Candidates belonging to reserved category belonging to any state other than West Bengal are considered as general category candidate. So you if you belong to any other state you must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with minimum overall 60% aggregate marks as well 60% aggregate marks

Jadavpur University being the most sought after institute in West Bengal, the competition is tremendous. Unfortunately with your rank, i.e. 2851 it is extremely difficult to bag a seat in the Information Technology domain in JU even though you belong to OBC category B.
