JAM stands for JOINT ADMISSION TEST for M.Sc.(masters in science) or other PG courses.

As,the candidates should have secured at least 55 per cent marks in aggregate of subjects including languages and subsidiaries of all the years combined. i don't know much about other NITs  but as per my knowledge NIT Trichy conducts its own entrance exam from Msc (Physics, Computer Science and Chemistry). So, if you clear the exam, you can get a set at NIT Trichy.
