The basic eligibility criteria for candidates applying for IIT JAM is that the candidate must have a bachelor's degree as a qualifying examination degree in a relevant subject as per the preference of subject in which the candidate is applying.

If you do not submit your category certificate ( EWS certificate ) during the counselling process : document verification , then you will be automatically considered as a general category candidate. But if you submit th ecategory certificate then you will get benefits of being an EWS candidate.
