no it is not at all true , to qualify for JEE ADVANCE the criteria is to qualify JEE mains , no other qualification can make you qualify for JEE advance , you must be in top 10 Percentile in JEE mains to qualify for JEE advance

Actually see you must should know that the syllabus of both state board and joint entrance examination is quite same if you are following your NCERT books. Yes office there are some extra concepts needed for JEE main examination but you can do that in your coaching also.
