Hi,

Yes, you can repeat Class 12 from another board like MP Board, NIOS, or through CBSE improvement/private candidate to improve your percentage for the JEE 75% criteria.

But changing as a regular school student in the middle of a session is usually difficult because boards have strict transfer rules.

I want complete guidance about josaa counselling and I got 88.97%ile in jee mains this year and can I get corebranches in nots or iiits at this much percentile? If I do get it which one will I get and my home state is Maharashtra and my preferences will be nearby colloeges near by my home state.

Samyak Jain 21st May, 2026

Hello Dear Student,

With an 88.97 percentile , your estimated CRL may be around 1.15–1.45 lakh .

Getting core branches in top NITs through JoSAA can be difficult in the General category. However, you still have decent chances in:

  • newer IIITs, and
  • some GFTIs.

Possible nearby options include:

  • IIIT Nagpur

Devika Malik 21st May, 2026

With your scores, you still have quite a few good options, especially because of UP domicile and female quota advantages.

Good possibilities include:
• Institute of Engineering and Technology Lucknow → ECE/AI-related branches possible
• Harcourt Butler Technical University → good core/electronics branches
• Kamla Nehru Institute of Technology →

With a CRL rank of 4,00,477 and SC rank of 27,365 , getting top NITs or IIITs is very difficult.

However, you may still have slight chances in:

Samyak Jain 20th May, 2026

Hello Dear Student,

No, you cannot use last year’s JEE Main scorecard for admission in the current academic year.

JEE Main scores and ranks are valid only for the admission cycle of that particular year. For admissions through:

  • JoSAA,
  • CSAB, or
  • state counselling

you must use the current year’s JEE

i got 77.35 percentile sc category in jee main 2026. can i get a seat for btech ece / eee in sastra

Samyak Jain 20th May, 2026

Hello Dear Student,

With a 77.35 percentile in JEE Main as an SC category student, getting ECE or EEE at SASTRA University can be difficult.

SASTRA usually prefers higher JEE Main percentiles for these branches, and the university generally does not provide separate reservation-based cutoffs like state counselling systems.
