The basic differences between biotechnology and bio medical engineering is that in biotechnology students study about the different ways of comining a genome and study of different micro organisms that help in the development of biology. 

Whereas in biomedical engineering the students study about the various ways or methods of producing a technology that helps in the medical field. 

In the recent trend bio medical engineering has more scope than biotechnology, analysis the pro's and con's of both the departments. Therefore it is recommendable to do biomedical engineering.

This is just a multidisciplinary field actually which combines biology and engineering. What is the main concept is that applying engineering principles and materials to medicine and healthcare. 

It's a very broad field with many increasingly job opportunities

Though they are related with each other but the students must understand and compare them very carefully before opting for a career depending upon their areas of interest. If it’s a matter of choosing a career, students must understand at least the basic differences between these two specializations.

Main Difference:

Biotechnology is the use of living systems and organisms to develop or make useful products, or "any technological application that uses biological systems, living organisms or derivatives thereof, to make or modify products or processes for specific use"

Biomedical broadly refers to the application of engineering and technology principles to the domain of living or biological systems.

It is involved in developing innovative biology, materials, processes, implants, devices and informatics approaches for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, for patient rehabilitation, and for improving health.
