Karnataka Common Entrance Test
Hello,
With a ST category rank of approximately 2,30,000 in KCET, securing a seat for CSE in a Bangalore college is highly unlikely. Even the most open branches in Bangalore’s top private institutions typically close well before rank 40,000-60,000, and ST-specific cutoffs can be even stricter.
Hope this helps. All the best!
Top colleges like Kasturba Medical College & St. John’s: Cutoff above 145/180
Government nursing colleges: Cutoffs range 110–140/180
Manipal College of Nursing: Around 130–145/180
Cutoffs vary yearly and are lower for reserved categories.
Check official KCET counselling for exact cutoffs and apply to multiple colleges for better chances.
Hi Aspirant
Achieving a rank below one thousand in KCET requires focused preparation on exam pattern subject weightage and formulae especially in Maths Physics and Chemistry Below is a comprehensive blueprint and formula sheet to guide your preparation
Exam blueprint for KCET The KCET consists of three papers Mathematics Physics Chemistry Each paper contains multiple choice questions Each subject carries sixty questions worth one mark each Duration for each paper is sixty minutes All questions have single correct answer No negative marking Paper is held offline at designated exam centres
Subject weightage and section breakup Mathematics Algebra Number Systems Coordinate Geometry Calculus Trigonometry Probability and Statistics Vectors Physics Mechanics Thermodynamics Heat and Gas Electricity Magnetism Optics Modern Physics Chemistry Physical Chemistry Inorganic Chemistry Organic Chemistry
Suggested question count weight based on past trend Mathematics may have around thirty questions from Algebra and Calculus combined Coordinate Geometry and Trigonometry may have fifteen to twenty questions Probability and Statistics may have five to ten questions Physics may carry ten to fifteen questions each from Mechanics Electricity and Modern Physics Chemistry may have fifteen questions from Physical Chemistry ten from Inorganic and ten to fifteen from Organic
Important formulae and expressions for KCET
Study strategy based on blueprint Start with clear understanding of exam pattern Practice previous year question papers and sample tests Use formula sheet to revise key relations daily Create topic wise checklist and track performance Take topic tests in Maths Physics and Chemistry Solve one full mock test under timed conditions each week Analyse mistakes focus on weak areas eliminate errors
Tips for rank below one thousand Aim to score ninety five percent in papers i e fifty seven to sixty out of sixty Prioritise high weightage chapters in each subject Revise formula sheet daily within ten to fifteen minutes Practice at least three full mock tests before exam Manage time effectively allocating at least one minute per question Read questions carefully as KCET uses direct application of formulae
Dear Candidate , With a KCET agriculture rank of 17,232 and a practical exam rank of 8,340 , you have a fair chance of securing a B. Sc ( Hons ) . Forestry seat in Karnataka, particularly at the Colleges of Forestry , Sirsi or Ponnampet . Both colleges had previous year cutoffs around 9,000-11,000 in practical rank , so your rank falls within or close to the closing range . Your chaces improve if you belong to a reserved category . Make sure to participate in all counseling rounds , including mop-up and regularly check the KEA official website for updates .
Hello aspirant,
As you have scored 84,000 rank in KCET in General Merit where competition is high in Karnataka. N ow, let’s talk realistic college options for B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). At this rank, it might be hard to get into top-tier colleges like RVCE, BMSCE, or MSRIT, unless you fall under Hyderabad-Karnataka or any reservation quota. But don’t worry! You still have good chances at solid mid-tier and emerging colleges.
Here are some good colleges you may get in Round 1 or 2:
Keep updated on cutoff trends and attend all rounds including casual vacancy or mop-up rounds. And if you’re open to management quota, more private colleges will be accessible, but fees will be higher.

Dear Sir/Madam,
As you requested, with a rank of 38000 in kcet.you may get admission in good private engineering colleges in Karnataka.
You may have possibility to get admission in the branch of Mechanical/civil/electrical/industrial Engineering.

You may also get admission for industrial engineering/Biotechnology in Top colleges.
You may also get CSE/ECE in lower tier colleges in later rounds.
R.V. College of Engineering (RVCE), Bangalore: Around 1,856
PES University, Bangalore: Approximately 4,030
M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT), Bangalore: Close to 2,330
BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore: Around 9,822
Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore: Approximately 8,404
University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE), Bangalore: Around 7,386
Sir M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (MVIT), Bangalore: Approximately 19,024
Hello Jay !
Yes, you are eligible for the SNQ (Supernumerary Quota) as your annual family income is Rs. 20,000, which is below the Rs. 8 lakh limit.
But with a KCET rank of 37,382, getting CSE, AI, or ECE in top Bangalore colleges is quite difficult. These branches usually close at much lower ranks.
For example:
BMS College of Engineering : CSE closes around 5,000–6,000 rank
PES University : CSE closes around 2,000–3,000 rank
RV College of Engineering : CSE usually closes below 2,000 rank
Now, about KLE Technological University, Hubli :
CSE closed around 6,000 rank
AI closed around 7,000–8,000 rank
So, with your rank, it's not possible to get CSE or AI in KLE Hubli under the general or SNQ quota.
However, you may get chances in some other private engineering colleges where the cutoff is higher, like:
Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering
Acharya Institute of Technology
New Horizon College of Engineering
JSSATE, Bangalore
These colleges may offer CSE or AI under SNQ for higher ranks, but mostly in the later rounds.
You can also use our KCET College Predictor Tool to predict which college you can get based on your score.
Hope it helps !
