The total seats in all the courses in the mass communication department of the BHU is around 70-80. So, with 296 general rank, your friend is not likely to get Admission in the Univesity. According to last year cut off and rank you have  very few chance of admission in BHU main campus.  You can wait for 2nd and 3rd round counciling. But the chance of admission is very less. So , I will suggest you dont wait for BHU , apply some other colleges for M.A. hindi. You can apply for Delhi University and some other state colleges.

Hi, in most colleges the age limit for all PG courses is 25 years. Except for this there shouldn't be any problem in pursuing ma in Mass comm.
