Management Development Institute, Gurgaon
Dear Manavi, the basic eligibility criteria remains 50% Aggregate in Graduation for General Category and 45% for Reserved Categories. For admision to MDI Gurgaon, the following Composite score calculation method is used:
Now coming to CAT weightage, now that CAT is conducted at 2 different slots, IIM Kozikhode follows a unique method of calculating the score. IIM Kozikhode will normalise the CAT scores using percentile equivalence. Adjustment of location and scale differences of score distributions across different norms and then scores will be normalised. These scores will be then converted into percentiles for shortlisting and selection purposes. And B Schools have been giving sectional preference to CAT scores to calculate CAT score. While FMS gives importance to VARC section, all other major IIMs give weightage to QA section. Going by the previous year cut offs, to get into MDI, your CAT score should be nothing less than 93-95%. The reason for their higher cut offs can be justified by their placement opportunities. 138 PPOs were offered to MDI students by 106 participating recruiters. The average salary was 20.13 lakhs and the highest domestic salary was 40.79 lakhs. A candidate with an excellent academic track, has all eligibility criteria points, good communication skills and analytical skills and possesses the ability to take up challenges is called an ideal Candidate. And with your academic track, you can make it to MDI, if you can score a percentile of atleast 95. Last year 55% of CAT score is given weightage. And for an example we shall give you an idea of score for each section of CAT exam and its overal weightage so as to let you prepare accordingly.
IIM QA DLR VARC Overall
Ahmedabad 65 65 65 70
Bangalore 70 70 70 75
Calcutta 65 65 65 70
Indore 70 70 70 80
Lucknow 77 77 77 82
The following formulae are used to calculate your 10th, 12th and Graduation scores:
=0 for other applicants
Remember, that there is no PASS or FAIL score in CAT. Its a measure of your performance among other applicants. Better the percentile, fairer the chance of getting into Top B schools. For example, if your score is 90 percentile, it means you did better than 90 percent of the Candidates who applied. Now cracking CAT and faring better than a certain percent of Candidates totally depends on how you prepare.
Depending on your Category, your CAT percentiles should be near to these numbers:
General Category: 95+
OBC-NCL: 85+
SC: 65+
ST: 55+
Hi neeraj,
Thanks for the question.. You can definitely get admission in any of the college provided you prepare well for the cat exam and also crack group discussion and interview with flying colours. .as the B schools you mentioned doesn't emphasise more on past academics although in some Institutes you mentioned might have eligibility criteria like minimum 50% required in 10th and 12th...so do take note of such Institutes before filling there forms as you have less than 50% in your 12th..
All the best
There's a huge difference between both the campuses. MDI Gurgaon is a well established campus and trusted among recruiters. MDI Murshidabad has not flourished yet. Moreover the placements there are not very good. The current batch was promised to be transferred to the Gurgaon campus for their first trimester but later the plan was dropped because of the batch strength. Moreover the campus fails to attract recruiters because of the place it's located in. But you can definitely look out for some other options you can get with your percentile in the vicinity of industries.
Good luck
MDI Gurgaon has all the basic courses like Marketing, Finance, Human Resources and other management courses. It's a very good college for marketing and HR.
The minimum CAT cutoff is 95 percentile. But if you don't have a work experience or have not participated in any national events then you need to score at least 98 percentile. Work experience is not necessarily required but if you have it you'll have better opportunity.
All the very best
You'll have to get a percentile of at least 95 and a good academic background for getting a call from MDI Gurgaon and for SP Jain it's better to score above 98 percentile because they have very less seats for non Maharashtra students. Moreover if you have a work experience for at least 3 years and have won some national level competition then SP Jain can give you a call at 85 percentile also.
MDI Gurgaon completed final placement for the PGP, PGP-IM and PGP-HRM programmes with an average salary of Rs. 19.17 lakh per annum (LPA). Last year the salary was Rs. 18.89 LPA. Sales & Marketing was the highest recruiting domain. As many as 119 companies participated in the process out of which 28 were first time recruiters.
Course percentage of offers
1. Finance 21
2. General management 28
3. Operations 19
4. Sales and marketing 32
Hope , you find what you are looking for.
Hello Rittick,
MAT is conducted four times a year in the months of feb, may, sept and dec. The next Mat will be in Sept 2019.
MDI Murshidabad doesn't accept MAT scores. The admissions here are purely through CAT. Also KJ Somaiya doesn't accept MAT scores. The admissions at KJ are through CAT, XAT, CMAT & GMAT for the MMS (CET exam) and PGDM program.
There are a lot of colleges under MAT some of them are Jaipuria, Christ Bangalore, ITM Business school, GITAM, IILM and many more. But all these are average colleges and it would be great if you appear for CAT as there are some good colleges available even at 70%ile.
Best Luck!
