In last year TNEA Councelling 2019 : Anna University(Code 0001) ;1) Why Computer Science Engg is not selected by SCA category at all . 2) Mining , Manufacturing Engineering , Printing Tech , Civil ( Tamil) ,Mech (Tamil) were Unchoosed in ST catogery in last year Anna University ? Can u Explain ?

Adithyan Manikandan 9th Jul, 2020

Hi Ezhil,

1) In TNEA counselling the seats are first filled in the open category, There are chances that the candidates might have got the seat allocated in general category. Also the the total allocation for SCA category is around 3% of the total colleges under anna university.

2) The cutoff rank for ST is lower compared to other categories, the candidate would have opted for other courses (preferably a circuit branch) since the courses you have mentioned required lower cutoff ranks even for the open category.

The common fact is that the rate of engineering admissions have decreased in 2019 compared to the previous years, this can be even one of the reasons the seats weren't filled.

Is their are any job vacancies in PSU sector for btech manufacturing engineering students .If their are any vacancies then in which branch code they should give GATE exam ???

rajaman9300 Student Expert 16th Oct, 2019

Hello Sorabh

It is directly or indirectly related with ME. So

If you like thermal, apply for ME, If you don't like thermal apply for PI.

In other terms, if you like manufacturing and management - apply for PI.

You must know that seats for ME in IIT's are 900+ whereas for Manufacturing and production it is around 150+ only.

If btech manufacturing engineering students apply GATE in mechanical branch then is their any problem occur when apply for job and their are some subject which are not in manufacturing branch like heat transfer, refrigerator and mechanics .

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 16th Oct, 2019

hello aspirant,

a b.tech final year or pass out student can apply in gate from any stream. even a mechanical engineer can opted for computer science engineering branch. however the preparation is only depends on you that how well can you prepare. now coming to your point, you may apply in gate from mechanical engineering branch, but the psu's only hires for b.tech in mechanical degree holder candidates. and for manufacturing engineering there is very low vacancy. but you can use your gate score and can pursue m.tech from top institution.

hope you may understand.

While applying job Btech manufacturing engineering students apply job in production branch or mechanical branch bcoz many companies are noticed any manufacturing job ??

Sonali Sahu Student Expert 11th Oct, 2019

Hello,

I am not able to understand your question. From what i have understood a student from other branches are also applying when their branches are not mentioned.

In general, There are many companies now who don't keep these branch barrier. if anyone who statisfy their selection bar, they select the candidate. Later they make all the adjustments and make the students fit into the work.

If you go by branch like i am from manufacturing engineering branch and i should get a job in my branch only then you will get few chances only. Chances are there but options are less as the openings will be less. Here the word Competitive becomes like bottle-neck condition. Here a candidate having expertise in the branch domain will get the job.

So try in general domain and specific domain also. It all depends on luck to get a job.

Hope it helps!

Hello aspirant I am here for helping you.
Manufacturing student can give GATE exam in any of the branch code even not only  manufacturing student but also any student can give GATE exam in any of the branch, yep! Definitely there will be a little bit problem at the time of interview when some of the subject you will leave which are not in manufacturing branch but are in mechanical engineering branch code so for that you will have to do extra buckle down.
I hope you got it.
Feel free to ask any query in comment section.

If manufacturing engineering students give gate in mech is their any problem in job bcoz if interviewer want mech certificate or manufacturi

Shubham Kumar Gupta 19th Aug, 2019
Hello Sourav, Greetings!

Let me help you.

Yes, being a manufacturing engineering student, you can apply for PSUs through GATE.

Some PSUs recruit manufacturing engineering students given that they apply through mechanical discipline in GATE exam.

These include NTPC, BHEL, GAIL, MDL, VIZAG, STEEL and SAIL. Although mechanical students are preferred, manufacturing students are also given chance.

Apart from GATE, Engineering Services Examination (ESE) and ISRO also recruit PI candidates but here also they have to appear through ME paper.

Once you clear your exam and interview, you should not face any problem at your job.

Best of luck.
