Hello Tanishkaa,
It is totally depends upon your choice or in that subject you have deep knowledge and interest so that you can score good marks in that subject and then you will become an expert of that field.

Hello Amal,
See it totally depends upon your choice. If you have interest for big machineries and pumps and all then you should go for Marine Engineering and if you have interest in Navigation and Communication then go for Nautical Science.
With Marine Engineering you can go to the technical side of the shipping industry with Chief Engineer as the highest rank on board the ship and with Nautical Science you can go to the Deck side on ship which has Captain as the highest rank. After that if you want to continue in this you can continue or you can switch to the corporate office of the Shipping Company.
So, it totally depends upon your interest.
If you have any query do reach out for that , will be happy to help you.
All the best!!
Dear Keshwanand, Yes you can persue M.tech in Marine Engineering From "MERI" Kolkata even after you persued your B.tech from Mechanical Engineering. Here you can find that in this college which is affiliated by "IMU" (Indian Maritime University) which conduct their own exam for UG and PG courses i.e. IMU-CET which start their application process in month of april and exam is mostly conducted by the University in the month of June. so you have to appear in their own exam to secure a seat.
Hope you find it relevant.

Hello aspirant
I can help you with better information.
After completion of marine engineering opportunities are immense in private, educational, corporate and governmental sectors. You can work either onshore or offshore. The latter is quite demanding as you have to stay away from the land for months on end. However, if a government job is what you want, Marine engineering can land you up in the Naval services. Apart from the lucrative salary and perks, it is a matter of pride and joy to serve the country in the waters. Aspirants can also get opportunities in marine metals and corrosion, renewable energy, remote sensing, offshore oil recovery, underwater vehicles and marine transportation. Starting off as a Fifth (junior) engineer, the promotions depends on the efficiency shown.
Pay scale
The remuneration increases with annual promotions. However, a trainee engineer can expect around 30,000 to 40,000 per month. After gaining knowledge about the field, the salary amount is extremely lucrative. Offshore engineers even get the status of an NRI.
Hope above information is helpful to you
