Can I do Masters in Aerospace Engineering after doing B.Sc(Hons.) in Mathematics in India?

Mayumi DAS 24th Mar, 2025

Yes, you can pursue Aerospace Engineering after completing a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics in India. However, there are a few key points to consider:

Options Available:

1. M.Tech./M.E. in Aerospace Engineering

You need to qualify GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) in a relevant paper (e.g., Engineering Sciences – XE, Mathematics – MA, or Aerospace Engineering – AE).

Some IITs, IISc, and other top institutes allow non-engineering graduates with strong mathematical backgrounds.

2. M.Sc./M.Tech. in Computational Mechanics or Fluid Dynamics

Some institutes offer related fields where mathematics plays a significant role in aerospace applications.

3. Direct Admission to Aerospace Engineering Courses Abroad

Many foreign universities accept a B.Sc. in Mathematics for M.S. programs in Aerospace Engineering with prerequisite courses.

Key Challenges:

  1. Since B.Sc. Mathematics students lack core engineering subjects, you may need to take bridge courses in physics, mechanics, and engineering basics.
  2. Some IITs/NITs may not accept B.Sc. grads directly for M.Tech. in Aerospace, so you have to check specific eligibility criteria first.

i have got only pass marks in mathematics, can i get marine engineering in government collages?

Prachi Kumari 13th Mar, 2025

Hello,

Getting admission to a government college for Marine Engineering with just passing marks in Mathematics can be difficult. Most government colleges have specific eligibility criteria, including a minimum percentage in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics). Generally, you need at least 50-60% in PCM to qualify.

However, you can check the eligibility criteria of different colleges and entrance exams like JEE Main, IMU CET, or state-level exams . Private colleges may have more flexible admission criteria.

Hope it helps !

I am a 12th class student from Telangana state and Now my board exams are going on. My board exams will be completed on 20th March. After that I want to prepare for my entrance exams for btech colleges I have applied for jee mains session 2, Ts eamcet, Vitee, and cuet Now can anyone please tell me the best books for physics, chemistry and mathematics for preparing for all this exams Please suggest only one best book for my preparation as I have very less time. So that I can prepare for all this entrance exams.

kumardurgesh1802 12th Mar, 2025

Hello Shivani,

Since you have limited time, focus on one comprehensive book for each subject that covers all the entrance exams:

  • Physics : DC Pandey (Arihant) – Understanding Physics – It covers JEE, EAMCET, VITEEE, and CUET concepts with clear explanations and practice problems.

  • Chemistry : NCERT + OP Tandon – NCERT will help with basic concepts, and OP Tandon (Physical, Inorganic, and Organic Chemistry) provides deeper understanding and practice questions.

  • Mathematics : Cengage – Mathematics for JEE – It covers detailed theory and a variety of problems suited for all these exams.

Prioritize solving previous years’ papers and mock tests to improve accuracy and time management.
