NITs- jaipur,calicut, bhopal,  silchar,  surat,  agartalla,  patna

There is no excat answer for this question. But recently this days more priviate companies are hiring graduates from Design Engineering. Followed by Thermal Engineers and then Manufacturing deparment. If you are expectionally good then you can study M. Tech in Mechatronics, you will get hired by good companies.

Sorry to dissapoint you, you have very low chances of getting any NITs for your 408 score in gate. You need at least more than 450 for any NIT. You will also not get any good college. But apply for NITs, if your luck favours you may get.

You might not get top NITs but there are list of college where you can apply and you posses a fair chance to get it.Apply for interdisciplinary branches like VLSI,Power system,Embedded System etc.

Its very difficult for you to get decent college .Most probably you will get GFTIs of your state otherwise state engineering  college.You may apply there.

You can check the previous year cut off of NITs and IIITs and GFTIs .Hardly you are upto the mark.
