Hii rukmani,
Admission in M.Tech. are based on GATE score.so if you want admission in M.Tech. you need not to prepare for JEE but for GATE to get admission in prominent institution like IITs and NITs.

Placement is a possibility in only high end IITs given the fact student is good, else, god knows what would happen.

For instance, take case of IIT Delhi. The MTech placement record for mechanical was 69%

Hello dhiren,
After b.sc you can't join m.tech program.
After b.sc you can join m.sc in IIT through JAM exam.
For m.tech, you must have done b.tech completely.

eligibility qualifications for GATE: BE / B.Tech/ B.Pharm
Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/ Technology (4 years after 10+2 or 3 years after B.Sc/ Diploma in Engineering/Technology) and those who are in the final year of such programs.
