Mechanical engineering or Civil engineering which is better...??

Aashiketa 22nd Oct, 2021

Hi, both these branches are ever green branches. Mostly everything is pretty similar when it comes to these two branches. It really depends on you what you wish to become and what you want to do as a full time job in the future. While you are doing your course you will notice that there are some subjects that are same such as Fluid Mechanics, SOM, etc. Civil Engineering has a lot of drawing designs. You have it in Mechanical too but only in 2 semesters. By drawing I don't mean by rough drawing. It requires a lot of patients and a lot of equipment like drafter, French curve etc. Job opportunities in both the fields is same. In Civil you will have a lot of field work. Mechanical has a little bit more of designing. Now, you can decide which suits you the best. Hope this helps.

please guide me pdpu computer science V/S SVNIT Mechanical engineering

Aashiketa 22nd Oct, 2021

Hi, it is very difficult to guide you as you have not decided which branch you wish to take. Looking at previous data people tend to compromise with their colleges but not with subjects. The jobs available in mechanical sector is pretty stagnant. Where as Computer Science is blooming. So, it is advised that you select your course first. Both the colleges are equally good and have a decent amount of placements in both the sectors. Below is the link for you too check and compare colleges to suit your needs. Hope this helps.

Anirudh Singh 21st Oct, 2021

Hi

With 98000 ranks in KCET and SC category, with Kannada Medium quota, it seems it will be difficult for you to get admission with Mechanical Engineering branch as the priority, however you can get into following colleges with good chances in the branches mentioned:

  • University BDT College of Engineering, Davangere [BE Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering]
  • PES College of Engineering, Mandya [BE Electrical and Electronics Engineering]
  • BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore [BE Aerospace Engineering]
  • Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore [BE Computer Science and Engineering]

You can use our College Predictor tool for KCET to help you in finding college and branch of your choice based on your merits in the exam.

Good Luck

Im getting addmission mechanical engineering in PEC Chandigarh and cse in GLbajaj college noida. whats should i take?

Md Qutubuddin Ansari 21st Oct, 2021

Hello,

I hope you are doing fine, Both the colleges are very good in terms of placement, infrastructure, faculty,.etc. I would suggest prefer branch to college . Computer Science Engineering is the best branch and it's growing rapidly . You can  definitely get employment after doing Btech in CSE.

The placement rate for the mechanical branch in PEC Chandigarh is above 90% . The highest salary package offered in the mechanical branch in the previous year was 22.5 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 3.6 LPA in Infosys. Top companies which visit here for placements are Maruti Suzuki, JP Morgan, MySQL, Amazon, etc. In CSE, almost 100% of placements are provided.

The highest salary package offered in CSE GL Bajaj Noida was 33 LPA , and the average salary package offered was 4.5 LPA. Google, Amazon, Postman, SAP, TCS, and many other firms visit for placements.  It also depends on your area of interest . Choose wisely, as you have to study for 4 yrs. For placement point of view , go for GL Bajaj College Noida.

I hope you find this information helpful. I wish you all the best for your future.

Good Luck

Hello, actually Iam getting metallurgy and material science in IIT madras and Kharagpur and also chemical engineering in IIT Hyderabad whereas mechanical and electrical in new IITs . Iam confused. Can any one suggest me .

Aashiketa 21st Oct, 2021

Hi, if you are not sure of metallurgy and material science that this is what you want to do for the rest of your life than it is advised to not take up a branch that is very specialized. You can opt for more open branches like Mechanical, CS, IT. Chemical Engineering has a huge demand when it comes for Job opportunities. It would be a safer option than to go for Metallurgy and material Science. If you think that the new IIT you got Mechanical in is going to bloom over the years than it is fine. If you think that the value of that IIT won't be that much you can ignore. If you are ready to compromise with the IITs you wish to get in then you can choose Chemical or Mechanical. Below is the link for you to compare your colleges and it will help you narrow down your choices.

Hope this helps. If you still have doubts please feel free to comment.

Which trade is better for girls civil engineering Or mechanical engineering? I kept this trade as optional if I wont get CSE trade in any clg. So pls let me know among civil Or mechanical which has scope in future?

ayanmukherjee045 21st Oct, 2021

Dear aspirant,

It's very important to look upon your interest . Don't just go blindly with packages. So if you are interested in coding then I would recommend you to kindly go with computer science branch and if you don't have any fascination for it then go for mechanical.

In civil engineering the scope is a bit low in india and the placements are not that strong in many of the good colleges even.
