ccording to 2018 statistics, the closing rank for ECE is 6934 and for mechanical is 17643. But the closing ranks for NCC-A might be quite higher because the competition in that category will be very very low. if the seat is vacant, you will definitly get,  Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering

Coming to your question I would like to tell you that at this rank in gate you can't get a psu whether you are a sc category student , no matters here so at this rank you can't get the psu in the mechanical engineering branch ,

All the streams of engineering are pretty much easier if you really have interest on that particular subject. It is basically based on your interest sridhar else you should choose the stream as per your interest rather choosing it by seeing it's difficulty level.
