yeah that quite true as well because like lakhs and lakhs of engineering are coming out yearly so the companies have got lot of option as well and they are providing very low pay scale and it has been tough to get job as well but demand of engineering

Since mechanical engineering and genetic engineering are totally two different fields, it is not advisable for you to do it so.both the branches are not related therefore it is better if you select specialisation related to mechanical engineering

Since you are in your second year, I would not advise you to stress yourself over GATE preparation. However, if you want to prepare, start with your present syllabus, then move ahead.

Keep revising the previous syllabus as you move forward to study the next year syllabus.

Before starting off with any studies, it is important for you to know the complete syllabus. You should check the official syllabus of Mechanical Engineering (ME). Also, the earlier you start your preparation, the better it is. This will give you time to study all of the topics
