Best institute for journalism and mass communication in countries abroad?

Somila Ambekar 1st Feb, 2019

Hello Koushal,

I think before you choose the best institute for you, it is good to understand which one of these could better match to your career interests.

  • Journalism in a broad sense has to do with news information, while mass communication deals with different media to spread messages, information or entertain the masses. Reports in newspapers, magazines, TV, radio or digital media are generally included in journalism. And depending on the different media, the field of journalism can be divided into three broad categories, namely the printing press (ie newspapers and magazines), electronics (ie TV and radio) and online journalism. . Therefore, depending on your interests, you could even choose a specific course for one of these media.
  • As for mass communication, it could be said that it is a general term for a wide variety of media fields such as theater, radio, television, cinema, journalism, publicity, public relations and others. In summary, mass communication covers a wide area of media, while journalism focuses only on news.
  • Journalism mainly involves the components of political science, economics, communication theory, journalism history and research methodology.
  • Mass communication, on the other hand, involves writing things that have a greater social impact and includes opinion articles and features that are given by journalists and writers.
  • At the level of graduation, journalism generally involves media such as print, digital or electronic and one of them can be chosen as a specialization when looking for a postgraduate course.
  • On the other hand, if one studies mass communication as a discipline, it involves the study of human communication and how it can be used to disseminate information to several people.
  • In terms of employment prospects, as a result of the proliferation of new media, opportunities exist in both fields. Those who opt for journalism can seek work in various media organizations, such as news agencies, radio and television news channels, newspapers, magazines and news portals.
  • Those who wish to pursue a career in mass communication have options in various fields such as NGOs, public relations and advertising agencies, corporate communication, communication solutions organizations, and United Nations organizations.

Dear aspirant,
It's really good that you have gained experience of 6 years in the field of media and communication but if you are looking to go for masters in Mass Comm then you must ensure that you will have to take a break-in between your work or else you can carry on your work on a part time basis as they both can not go hand in hand..
