Merchant Navy is completely based on same as marine engineering, but is just as division of marine engineering referred as a sub part. This field is completely a commercial field. You can expect international trading from this field

I think flat feet is not allowed. According to the medical requirements for B.Tech Marine Engineering in Tolani Maritime Institute, there should be no disease or impairment of functions of bones or joints. There should also not be any abnormal curvatures of the spine, deformity of legs and feet like bow legs, knock knee, flat feet.

To join merchant navy after class 12th you will have to appear for entrance test for admission to the Universities such as IMU CET. It is conducted by Indian Maritime University.
If you join Merchant Navy then you will have opportunities to visit new places all over the globe. Merchant Navy career can be satisfying but also quite challenging.

After completing your 12th board you have to appear in entrance exam i.e IMU CET exam(Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test).Here you can enroll yourself for undergraduate as well as pg program under IMUCET.All the courses are offered by IMU.
Some criteria are there to appear like :
1.Minimum age 17 years
2.Marital Status: Unmarried / Single
3.Candidates have to pass 10+2/ equivalent examination or B.sc or BE/B.Tech (from IIT or college recognized by AICTE).
4. not less than 50% marks in B.Sc or B.tech

To be eligible to take admission in IMU CET you need atleast minimum aggregate marks of 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 12th boards and Atleast 50% marks in English. Hence you'd be able to take the test and get admission only if your score atleast more than 60% and not with 54%.

IMU CET 2019 examination will be organized by the Indian Maritime University (IMU). Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMU CET) is all India level examination. This university offers various UG, PG, PG diploma & research courses in the field of marine engineering.
The university will release the application only through online mode.
Candidates will fill the IMU CET 2019 online application form from the fourth week of March 2019.
It will be available till the second week of May 2019 except BBA course.
