is it a good choice for a chemistry weak student to choose metallurgical engineering???

Anurag pal Student Expert 2nd Oct, 2020

Hey dear, there is nothing tough in this world if you have interest in it. Being weak in chemistry is nothing to worry about, if you want to join metallurgical engineering you will study only some particular aspects of metallurgy and not the whole 12th class chemistry. So you can easily join it without any hesitation.

which is better dual degree in Iiit kancheepuram or EIE, metallurgical in NIT?

Nishu Kumari 2nd Oct, 2020
Hii there,
Dear candidate, as you know EIE and Metallurgy are very different and totally opposite branches. If you have interest in circuital and coding stuffs then I would suggest go for EIE, but if you think you might develop interest in Metal branch which is really a future securing branc, go for NIT. I would suggest you to compare both the colleges in the link provided Below:

But I think Nit would be a good choice. Good luck!!

If I get metallurgical engineer in IIEST shibpur or same branch in NIT(any top 10) ,which will I choose for better placements?

Heena GJ 2nd Oct, 2020

Hi

Metallurgical and materials engineering at IIEST Shibpur is one of the oldest department

IIEST Shibpur has better than average placement especially in dept of metallurgy and mining.

Packages of 8lpa are common and Coal India, Vedanta, Tata steel visit for offering campus placements.

The average package across all branches stand at 6 lpa, higher than most NITs and comparable to Top 3 NITs.

Also it depends upon the demand in industries, market of that year and many other factors.

Hope it helps!

If I take metallurgical engineering in GCE Salem, can I have a chance to change it as Computer science or ECE in second year

priyanksaini318 1st Oct, 2020
Hi

Yes ofcourse you just need to maintain a cgpa and an year end sgpa above the cutoff to be able to change your branch. youll have to score good enough to make yourself come into the list of the top 3-4 students of your respective branch to be eligible to change your current branch
Despite of all these points, sometimes it gets difficult to change the branch as the number of the students scoring more than 9.0 CPI are more and sometimes it is also expected that the branch in which you are seeking to move in, have no seats remaining.
It's difficult but it's still possible
Hope this helps
Good luck

is bits hyderabad civil engineering better than metallurgical engineering in nit surathkal

priyanksaini318 29th Sep, 2020
Hi
It depends on which course you would prefer from the two. Also course preference must be on a upper pedestal than college preference in such a selection. Hence it's all your choice which course you would like to spend 3-4 years with.
However in the retrospect, nit surathkal has got a brilliant placement record and a nice faculty and alumni than that of bits. Also, you may change your course after a semester if you wish to.
In the end it's all your decision and you need to be accountable to every step you take.
You can try compare the colleges you can get with your mains and bits ranks through this link

what is probablity of getting admission in college if its closing rank is 15000 and my rank is 12000 and consider 50 seats feild metallurgical and material science (msu)????

Trisha Bhattacharyya 26th Sep, 2020

Hello aspirant,

The data you are talking about is based on the cutoffs from previous years' data. And these cutoffs vary every year depending on the percentile. You also need to consider the availability of seats in the successive rounds of counselling. So this isn't an accurate data. I will suggest you to wait for JOSAA counselling to end. You might even get your desired college.
