Hi, if you are not sure of metallurgy and material science that this is what you want to do for the rest of your life than it is advised to not take up a branch that is very specialized. You can opt for more open branches like Mechanical, CS, IT.

The Placement criteria mostly depends on company. Many Technology Companies may set criteria that students from CSE and IT can only apply for them while many also have no such pre requisite.
