As a chemical engineer, you have great options ahead if you get a good GATE score in CH. Alternatively, if you want to go for a computer/IT related career then I would not recommend you completely to go for GATE CSE because mostly all PSUs and colleges accepting GATE CSE need a bachelor's in CSE/IT.

So rather than putting an effort for a new subject understanding the basics of it, you can learn new courses online to upskill yourself that will help you get onboard with IT companies and the bachelor's degree doesn't really make a difference there.

Candidates who have completed a 5-year program in Science or Applied Sciences resulting in the award of a Master of Science degree are also eligible for Master of Engineering course
