For admission into NIT's or IIT's without Gate rank you need to be a BTech student from IIT with minimum cpi of 7.0. Or else you should be a sponsored student by some employer, but that requires experience in that field.

I assume you are referring to biomedical engineering stream. see data science stream is an interdisciplinary stream and in most of the institute offers the course to candidates who belongs to engineering or m.sc back ground. however this eligibility criteria may differ college wise, so that it is advisable
