Which subject I have to choose after class 10th for career in music

Akash Singh 3rd Jul, 2021

Dear Shivam,

As you might be already knowing that music is something which is not much degree dependant, it is more skilled based. Even if you do not have any degree in music field but you are creating great music and if people are liking your skill then, no one will look for your degrees. For this the best way to excel today are the social media platforms like Youtube, Instagram etc,. There you can build your own audience and ultimately you can reach the apex if you are doing good and consistently.

But there are some bachelor degrees which you can pursue to be certified in music field and obviously it will add charm in your music career.

For this after 10th you can go for any stream but if you take arts then it will be more preferable but again i will say that you have option of choosing any.

Below I am mentioning some best bachelor degrees in music field that you can pursue.

  • Bachelor of Arts in Music
  • Bachelor of Music Education

Greetings, I want to pursue music (Hindustani classical). I am not able to find the study material. can anyone please guide me on this topic? I have no idea whatsoever.\ Thanking you, Neha Gepal.

Akshita Dhiman 25th Jun, 2021

Hi there,

It is often best to learn from a trained classical singer in person. Online learning in such cases is never a good idea, as these skills require practice rather than a theoretical study. Besides the experience of learning in person with a trained singer in-person and online are two very different things. However, Listed below are Bachelor's Masters, and Online courses that can help you to learn classical music.

If you are looking for a theoretical aspect of Hindustani Classical below are some of the courses:

udemy.com- course/beginners-course-to-Hindustani-vocal-music

raag-hindustani.com/LearningTools

shankarmahadevanacademy.com/hindustani-vocal-music

For additional courses follow this link: https://www.careers360.com/courses-certifications/articles/10-courses-learn-classical-music

If you're looking to enroll yourself in a degree, below are the colleges that offer Hindustani Classical music:

Please go through the links, check for the eligibility criteria (usually the minimum criteria is 12th passed candidate), and enroll yourself in a degree program.

I hope this information helps.

Let me know if you any other queries.

Thank you and Good Luck!

Akshita Dhiman 21st Jul, 2021

Hello aspirant,

As of now, there are no music classes or courses at JNU. They are however likely to open a music school in the future with an integrated 5-year course for all the students that are interested in Indian classical music. I t is just a proposal for now and might take a long time to materialize.

However, there are a few BA and MA courses in music available at LPU, Savitri bai Phule, vels university, and on.
