I am in class 12th with pcb stream can I give nda exam in sep 2026 for joining army ?

Sonakshi Kumari 4th Jul, 2025

Hello Aspirant,

Yes, you can appear for the NDA (National Defence Academy) exam in September 2026 to join the Indian Army, even if you are a Class 12 student with a PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) stream. The Indian Army wing of NDA does not require Mathematics or Physics as mandatory subjects in Class 12, unlike the Navy and Air Force wings, which are only open to candidates with a PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) background. As long as you are an Indian citizen, unmarried, and your age falls between 16.5 and 19.5 years as on the date specified in the 2026 notification (likely born between January 2, 2008, and July 1, 2011), you are eligible. You will still be required to attempt both papers in the NDA written exam—Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT)—but selection into the Army wing mainly considers your overall merit. So, with the right preparation, especially for GAT and basic math, you can definitely aim for a career in the Indian Army through NDA.

All the best for your journey.

if filled wrong info in nda 2 form by mistake i cliked yes on that option which was like are you studing in sanik school and ward of jco or OR whichwassupposed to be no what shall i do ive mailed upsc but still no response from last 5days

gopi 21st Jun, 2025

Hello Aspirant,

If you erroneously marked "Yes" for the question about studying in Sainik School or being the ward of a JCO/OR in the NDA 2 form when the answer was "No", Since you already mailed about this here is what you can do:

  1. Call UPSC to have it resolved quicker
  2. Wait for correction window (if any) - UPSC sometimes provides correction windows but they do this infrequently. If they have not yet announced the correction window, keep checking their official website.
  3. On exam day and at when SSB comes around, just be honest about what happened. In my past experience, as long as the mistake does not directly impact your eligibility or give you unjust advantage, they are usually okay to be sorted out during the document verification stage.

I have 6/18 in both eyes (uncorrected vision) and in the notification uncorrected vision allowance is 6/12 and my corrected vision is -1.0D spherical in both with falls right into limits of myopia. Am I eligible for NDA even though i didnt meet the requirements of uncorrected vision?

hemanth kumar 16th Jun, 2025

Being 6/18 in both eyes, you may be able to take the job based on the recruitment medical standards of the recruiting authority particularly, the jobs in the defence services or the government sector.

Most medical standards have certain amounts of uncorrected deficiencies in vision when vision corrected (glasses, contacts) is of the expected standard. The specific allowance depends upon a service and a post.

When the notification explains uncorrected vision allowance, then it probably means that everyone whose vision is worse than normal, but can be corrected to meet the specified requirement, can be afforded.

In order to be sure:

Ensure to read the accuracy of vision standards and allowance as stated in the official notification.

Upon permission, make sure that you attain a legal eye prescription displaying corrected eyesight within a limit.

In case of doubts, a certified medical officer or ophthalmologist is to be consulted to provide a report on eye examination.

Hey! Because your birthday is on May 22, 2010, in 2025 you will be 15. And it is quite normal that at your age you are in Class 11. In 2026, youwill be going up to Class 12. Then simply concentrate on completing Class 11 well, since Class 12 is crucial in terms of board exams and choices of careers. i am November 2006 born, am i eligible for nda 2 2025 exam ? l am really confused because on YouTube it is showing not eligible please tell me whether i am eligible or not please

Tanisha chaudhary 8th Jun, 2025

HEY THERE!!!

  • Unfortunately, you do not qualify for NDA 2 2025 if your birthdate is in November 2006.
  • The specified eligibility window requires candidates to have been born between January 2, 2007, and January 1, 2010.
  • Since your birth falls before this range, you do not meet the age criteria set for this examination.
  • It would be advisable to explore alternative opportunities or eligibility options.

My son is trying to apply for NDA exam thats coming up in September 2025. While trying to register, were getting a message saying that hes not eligible for the exam due to "current guidelines and age restrictions" even though he was born on November 1, 2006. Can anyone help me understand this?

Samriddha Pal 13th Jun, 2025

Hello,

The NDA exam conducted by UPSC has strict age eligibility criteria. For the NDA II 2025 exam, which is scheduled to be held in September 2025, only candidates born between January 2, 2007, and January 1, 2010 (both dates inclusive) are considered eligible. Since your son was born on November 1, 2006, he unfortunately does not fall within this age range, making him ineligible for the NDA II 2025 exam as per the current guidelines.

Hope this helps. All the best!
