Indian Institute of Management Mumbai
HELLO !ASPIRANTS
To secure seats in NITIE mumbai for pursuing mtech program you need at least 720 or 760+ gate score. This score may be change little bit this year as it depends upon ranking of college and number of candidates seeking particular courses. For sureity wait till IIT Madras announces gate score.
You can ask if you have any other queries.
GOOD LUCK!
Hello Aspirant,
First, you have to clear the cut off to get a call for the GD and PI. The cut off depends upon the gate score, not on the marks. The GATE score cut off varies from around 650–700 depending upon the no. of applications.
Though Gate score vary year to year still I can give you a rough figure as per last 2-3 years Gate score scenario -
General Category -720-750(Minimum)
OBC -650-680(Minimum)
ST/SC-480- 550(Minimum)
Secondly, after the call, you have to crack the GD and PI round to get into the college.
Hope this helps.
Hello Sahil
As per the CAT cutoff of NITIE for OBC category, you have chances to get a call and I hope you might have received a call from the institute. If not, chances can be less as the Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD & PI) round is scheduled to be conducted from 25 March, 2019 to 29 March 2019.

Hii yadav,
First of all Greetings to you for getting a good score of 72 marks under the stream of Mechanical. This is well enough to do your masters in a good IIT/NIT.
As gate is score is valid for 5 years you will get a seat in NIT.But major preference is given to the candidates who are appearing in 2019 GATE.As you are from OBC category you are having high chances of getting seat in NIT and it also depends on the difficulty of the paper .
All the Best..,
Thank you.
Hey sudhansu!
Jee main cutoff for NiT's is based on jee main qualifying marks and all India ranks.
The cutoff varies as per category and programs offered. The allotment of btech Seats in nit will be purely based on jee main cutoff.
The expected jee main cutoff can be predicted in the previous years cutoff
The jee main cutoff for nit 2018 -
General - max marks : 350 min marks : 74
Obc - max marks : 73 min marks : 45
Sc - max marks - 73 min marks : 29
St - max marks - 73 min marks : 24
Wish you all the best.
Hello Sarvagya,
The marks that can be scored in a particular set of GATE depends totally on the difficulty of that set and how well you have prepared.
However, the marks to be scored in GATE to get admission in IITs or IISc doesn’t necessarily depend on that. This is because of the concept of normalisation that is applied after the exam is conducted.
This is done for a fair evaluation of marks for a particular student. Normalisation is done based on:
The marks you scored
The highest marks scored by a person who wrote that particular set
The average of all marks scored by everyone who wrote that particular set
Highest marks scored among all sets
Average of all marks scored among all sets
Thus, after normalisation, the marks you scored can increase or decrease, based on how everyone else performed in your set.
Generally, if your set was hard, chances are your marks will increase.
Now, coming to the question, in general, you need a rank of 500 - 600 to be assured a seat in any one of the old IITs (Madras, Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur and Kharagpur) or IISc.
This is a normalised mark of 74.5–76. Usually, most of the top rankers choose to go for PSUs and the rank requirement comes down.
As more and more people go for PSUs, the IITs keep their spot rounds to allot more people to specializations and as a result, the rank requirements come down.
Hope this will help.
Hi Rishabh, cutoff vary every year based on various factors like number of seats available, number of test takers, difficulty level of exam etc. However, coming to the question, it would be tough to get a call if you belong to general or obc category as cutoff in recent years are
General category cutoff is around 780+
For obc category, it is around 750+
For SC category it is around 650+
For ST category it is around 580+
Hello Lalit.
