National Institute of Technology Agartala
NIT Agartala is not a bad college Shreya, it may seem far and subsequently bad but trust me it's not so. It has got decent placement record and good faculty like all other NITS and much better facilities and infrastructure because its newly constructed. But, I suggest you participate in all the 7 rounds of counselling and FLOAT your choices to see what's the best you can get.
Hello student,
As you have mentioned that you have secured 81.20 percentile in JEE Mains 2019. Also scoring a percentage of 72 in class 12. You can not get admission into any of the government colleges which takes candidates on the basis of JEE mains as the minimum criteria is 75% in any specific board or should be in top 20 percentile.
Cheers!
Hello,
As you have mentioned that your jee main AIR rank is 12258.At this rank you can get admission into any one of the prestigious nits but not get every branch.Home state and other state quota always matters for taking admission.
If you want to give preference of college over branch then some top nits like nit trichy, nit Warangal, nit surathkal, nit rourkela etc are better.here you can get some branches like Metallurgy, BioTechnology, production, textile etc
In these colleges you can also get civil and chemical if you want and wait for 7th round.
If you want to give preference of branch over college. For branches like mechanical, electronic and communication, electrical, etc some colleges like mnit Jaipur,Manit Bhopal, nit kurushetra,Vnit Nagpur, mnnit Allahabad are better.
For computer science some nits are nit Jalandhar, nit Jamshedpur, nit hamirpur, nit silchar etc are better.

Hi aspirant,
Based on the previous year cutoffs for AEEE, you have low chances of getting into BTech ECE in the Coimbatore campus, if Tamil Nadu is not your home state. However, you have high chances of getting BTech ECE in both the Bengaluru and Amritapuri campus.
All the best.
This doubt of college vs branch is very common among students. I always advise aspirants to prioritize your interest above all other things. As in most cases, you have to study a particular branch for four long years before any chance of change thus interest in the branch should be given preference.
Coming to the colleges, both are NITs, Agartala being established very early and made NIT in 2005 whereas Meghalaya being established in 2010. NIT Meghalaya is a fast-growing NIT and ensures decent placement and environment for a CSE student. It still is in its initial phase in my opinion NIT Agartala will edge over it in terms of students studying and the competitive environment you will get there. Considering the placements, CSE and ECE both are almost equivalent in placements in general cases. You can forget core companies of ECE or CSE in both the colleges. Coding related jobs will be provided in both the colleges but the presence of stronger alumni network means more companies will be visiting NIT AGARTALA.
My final advice is that you should take NIT Agartala ECE over NIT Meghalaya and if you get circuit related branch in NIT Silcher, to go for it.
Hello Aman
As per the latest MHRD rankings, NIT Agartala's rank is 52. That's a very good rank.
Now onto IIITs. IIIT Ranchi is relatively new and shares a campus with NIT Jamshedpur. So, it's not as good as NIT Agartala. IIIT Dharward is also not very good. There is no variety in courses offered there. It's important to have a campus life and NIT Agartala is an old and established college.Go for it.
All the best!
