It all depends on if the candidates who got more marks and better college than yours is interested or willing to leave . If he doesnt leaves the better option then definitely you are going to get the same seat inspite of the fact that you have chosen to float.

Well certainly NIT Calicut is far more apt for infrastructure and research oppurtunities as compared to SVNIT Surat. But on the other hand VLSI and Embedded Systems being a more mainstream specialization for Electronics Engineers it should be preferred over Electronics Design and technology from a placement point of view

as per the present trend in technical world vlsi is widely used and have more demand in the industry and being widely used in several innovative projects so its better to go with vlsi in nit goa.
