National Institute of Technology Durgapur
Hi supratik ! Nit Durgapur is a very good college to do chemical engineering. Not at so high level but good. Last year average package went 4.5 lacs/annum. And highest went to 10 lacs. Well there also good packages of 6-7 lacs. But for this you must work hard to be in top students of your streams because those level of packages are very less in number. After all it will be best if you acquire a m.tech after b.tech so that you can in any overseas oil company. So best of luck to you.
Hey minakshi ,
With this much score in your jee mains examination you would have got the seat at a very decent NIT but your score in boards examination is low which will not allow you to get the seat through jee mains. You should have scored atleast 65 percent to get the seat this year.
I hope you have got the answer.
Good luck ahead !
Hi,
It all depends on your choice on what you are interested in,computers, working and building stuff or do the core branches fascinate you
Have a look at the courses through several educational websites, youtube and see where you are interested in the most
If you are looking at it in terms of placement then
CSE at IIEST
Electrical-NIT Durgapur
Mechanical-NIT Durgapur
Yes,you may get a seat in NIT Durgapur according to the previous year statistics and considering your quota.
But it also depends on where you have given the class 12 exam.If you have given your board exams in Bengal, then definitely you have higher chances of getting a seat in NIT Durgapur
Metallurgical,Biotechnology,Civil and Chemical have very high probality rate.Electrical have pretty chances but getting into CSE and ECE is quite difficult.
The trends for IISET shibpur is alnost similiar but more relaxing than NIT Durgapur.Again here CSE and ECE is quite difficult.
Hi aspirant,
The closing rank for SC category was around 4,500 for B.Tech Metallurgical Engineering at NIT Durgapur. This year's cut-offs are also expected to be similar with slight variation. Irrespective of the variation, the cut-off will not be more than 5,000. So given your rank, you will not be able to get admission in any stream.
Hi, I think you will not be able to make it unfortunately because with a percentile of 91 my friend got a rank closed to 60k, which indeed will be a difficult search and to get hands on a seat in the NIT's.
Yet you can opt for some very good private colleges which though are not nits yet are of the same standards.
I strongly feel NIT Durgapur with chemical engineering will be better in terms of placement with a placement percentage of 80% approximately whereas IIEST Shibpur Civil is only at 57% till 2018 batch. On the other hand I think you should also look into your preference of branch as taking interest in your branch is very important and if you like a subject you can surely shatter the average of that branch and get a great package.
